Visit 2005

The garden is a little neglected, sun has bleached the colour out of the paintwork, and certain plants have dominated, starving out others.

Just when former garden student Patrick and I are sitting on the bench under the Sapoti tree wondering what to do, Andrea arrives, like a fairy godmother! Andrea Soares is a student of environmental education from the nearby technical college. She has heard about the garden and is keen to volunteer her time and expertise in restoring it, and working with the students. During the rest of 2005 and much of 2006 she has tended the garden and had the beds repainted, in the time left between writing her thesis and looking for a job.
